Food in English: it’s a relevant topic for any level of English

Food vocabulary is already learned at initial English levels, as it’s frequently used in everyday conversations. The description of the day, habits, movies and series, traveling – the food in English can be found everywhere. Besides, it is a must-have for small talks, an opportunity to find out more about culture and traditions of different countries. Not only foodies, food bloggers, chefs, waiters or other restaurant business workers will find it useful, but also those who plan on communicating with foreigners, traveling or living abroad.

Food in English: what to study

Food and beverages in English — a huge topic, for better memorizing it is necessary to divide it into subtopics, for example:

  • meat, fish, poultry, dairy products;
  • vegetables, fruit, berries, mushrooms and nuts;
  • alcohol, soft drinks;
  • the names of dishes, starters, meals;
  • idioms and phrases on the topic.

Do not forget that new words from the topic “food” in English have to be regularly used in speech. For this reason, try to implement new words and phrases into your dialogues, diversify your studies with content on the topic. It is also important not just to know the names of the products and dishes, but also some actions connected with them.
